NewsSSESSMENTS: US-Iran Tension Re-escalates, Chinese Buyers Worried About PE Supply Availability

Author: SSESSMENTS

A trader based in Shanghai revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM that currently, buyers are worried about the PE supply availability as the US-Iran tension re-escalated lately. As Iran is one of the major PE suppliers to China, buyers are concerned to face tight supply stemming from delivery disruption.

On the trader’s end, offers for localized Iranian HDPE Film and HDPE Injection cargoes have increased between CNY50-200/ton ($7-28/ton) and CNY100/ton ($14/ton) respectively, all compared to last week’s levels. In the import market, US HDPE Film cargoes are available between $820-830/ton on TT, CIF Shanghai Port, as stated to SSESSMENTS.COM. Buyers are showing a healthy buying sentiment for localized cargoes as the futures market show some increases by Tuesday trading session. While for the import materials, buyers give a cold shoulder.

Offer given for localized PE on cash, EXW China basis (including 13% VAT in CNY term, excluding VAT in USD term)
