AlwaysFree: More Than 80% Of Crude Oil Production In US Gulf Of Mexico Remains Shut After Ida

Author: SSESSMENTS

Most crude oil and natural gas output in the US Gulf of Mexico remained shut on Monday after being shut ahead of the Category 4 Hurricane Ida. According to the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, around 1.5 million bpd or of the region’s oil production and 1.8 Bcfd or 81% of natural gas output were still offline on Monday. BSEE data also showed 99 oil and gas platforms remained without crews, down from the 288 originally evacuated.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc said it began redeploying workers to its Salsa and Enchilada platforms on Sunday. Industry sources said there are hurdles to supply fuel and redeploy staff to offshore platforms as some helipads were damaged due to the storm. Meanwhile, the US Coast Guard said it was investigating almost 350 reports of oil spills in the Gulf following the storm.
